Our Fully Online BA Degree Completion Program in the Social Sciences of Oceans is designed to train you in social science approaches to tackle complex problems related to oceans and island societies. Dive into topics such as governance and nationhood, resource management and development, and the movements of people and cultural forms. The interdisciplinary nature of this degree offers a broad perspective of the lands, waters, cultures, and peoples of Oceania. Embark on this journey of discovery and understanding, all from the comfort of your own home.
Major required upper division courses span across seven departments in the College of Social Sciences at the University of Hawaiʻi - Mānoa, including Anthropology, Economics, Ethnic Studies, Geography and Environment, Political Science, Sociology, and Urban and Regional Planning.
This online degree program will open doors to various career paths, including urban or rural planners, environmental consultants, cultural educators, policy analysts, grant writers, economists, and researchers. It is also well-suited for positions within non-profit or governmental organizations that focus on issues in Oceania.
Designed for working adults, this accelerated online BA degree is offered in five week segments. This program is flexible and focused. If you have prior college credits equivalent to an AA degree, you will earn this online Bachelor of Arts degree in less than two-and-a-half years.
As an option for students with no college credits, the College of Social Sciences Aloha Pathways Online program allows a student to complete the first two years of general education requirements online through a partnership with the Leeward Community College. The program allows students to smoothly transfer into the BA program at UHM and complete the major requirements. Qualifying students can have dual admissions and dual enrollment with UHM through the UH Kaʻieʻie Program.
