Description
This baccalaureate program delivered through Distance Education has been established as a transfer program for students who have completed the first two years of coursework (freshman and sophomore) in-person or online at UH West Oʻahu, from a community college in the UH system or from an accredited institution outside of the UH System.
The Health Information Management concentration equips students with integrated knowledge of medicine, science, technology, and management. Students acquire skills that provide them with a strong foundation for managing health information and information systems, medical billing, coding and reimbursement processes, and other administrative medical record functions. Students are prepared to collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals in compliance and quality improvement efforts as they relate to the health information function. Students also develop critical-thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills that are integral to the management of health information. Conferral of a Bachelor of Applied Sciences degree with a concentration in Health Information Management does not result in professional licensure.
