2021 ITS Talks: UHOIC and the Latest Quest Towards Excellence in Online Teaching & Learning

The UHOIC team shared updates and latest news with the rest of the IT Services department for an internal ITS Talks presentation on April 14, titled “UHOIC and the Latest Quest Towards Excellence in Online Teaching & Learning.” We had a blast as we talked about the launch of our new website, our professional learning & development opportunities, and our UH Online 5-Week PD Program and Quality Course Review process.

Using an interactive game-based tool called Nearpod, we were able to actively engage with those present. Nearpod interactives were used such as polls and a Time to Climb game where participants chose a cute animal avatar and competed to answer questions correctly and quickly to reach the top of a mountain with the highest score.

Congratulations to Alan, Michael, and Diana (Di-Di) for finishing with the highest scores, and mahalo to everyone for participating!

2021 ITS Talks- Top 3 Winner, #1: Alan with 3118 pts, #2: Michael with 1480 pts, and #3: Di-Di with 1466 pts.

A fun time at Excellence in Education Day!

UH Maui College, Kauaʽi Community College, and Honolulu Community College hosted a full-day online and in-person conference called Excellence in Education Day on March 5, 2021.

It’s always such a pleasure to collaborate with instructional designers across the UH system, so we jumped at the chance to be a small part of this fun and eventful day of learning. Our presentation titled, “Gimme a Break! Pause Your Zoom Agenda to Play Some Fun Activities (for our Mental Sanity)” allowed us to share various pilina (relationship-building) activities from the UH ID Professional Learning Community (PLC) and our UHOIC team. There were so many interesting topics and presenters on the schedule. Hoʻomaikai or congratulations to the organizers for a fun and successful event!
