Web of Science is a multidisciplinary database that covers high-quality journals with citation information.  Citation information is used both to evaluate the importance of articles and to search for relevant articles.  This workshop is aimed at graduate students who want to learn how to find the most important journals in their field, the most cited papers for their topics, and how to use citation tracing to comprehensively search for articles.

The workshop covers Artstor, a comprehensive image database that provides resources for art, interior design, architecture, landscape and history research, and many other humanities and social science disciplines.

With photographs, drawings, architectural documents, sculpture, furnishings, textile images, and rare items from gallery collections, Artstor is a core resource for image research.

HathiTrust: Finding and Using Digital Resources

This hands-on workshop will introduce Hathi Trust, a large-scale collaborative repository of digital content from over 100 research libraries, the Google Books project, and the Internet Archive. The collection includes over 6 million items available to download as PDFs or text documents.

Topics will include:

  • Overview of HathiTrust
  • Search strategies
    • filters
    • searching full text versus catalog records
  • Downloading and working with PDFs
  • Creating and finding collections

The presentation will also provide foundational skills for using HathiTrust’s analytical tools.

The Center for Teaching Excellence presents: Teaching with Video Resources

This workshop will introduce some of the primary streaming video resources available through Hamilton Library: Films on Demand, Kanopy, Swank, and Ethnographic Video Online.

Topics will include:

  • Overview of the databases – including creating clips and collections
  • Search strategies
  • Sharing and embedding videos, including possible scenarios in Laulima
