Hibiscus for the Holidays

Celebrate the season with a family-friendly workshop on Hawaiʻi-grown hibiscus. Learn to make holiday treats like baked goods, jams, chutneys, or infused drinks from hibiscus, while exploring its culinary uses. With guidance from local growers and chefs, you’ll create and package your own hibiscus creation to give as a gift. All supplies included; free parking. $40 early bird by Dec. 5, then $50. Registration covers one adult and two kids (8–12). This event is open to all UH faculty and staff from across the system.

Hawaiʻi High Pressure Processing Summit

Join Leeward Community College’s Wahiawā Value-Added Product Development Center (WVAPDC) for a day of food innovation and exploration at Hawaiʻi’s first-ever high pressure processing (HPP) summit. This one-day event will showcase the state’s only HPP machine and explore how the technology boosts food safety, extends shelf life, and supports the development of minimally processed, preservative-free products.
