- Must have completed, or be in the process of completing before applying for the program, the following:
- 57 credits or Associate's Degree
- Can be from UH-Mānoa and/or approved transfer credits from another institution
- UHM General Education Core and Prerequisites
- Must include: HWST 107, MATH 100 or higher (MATH 111 or 112 are highly recommended), SPED 304 (can be taken in the summer after submitting an application)

- 40 Hours of Group Leadership Experience (Form) with school-aged children, preferably with students with disabilities
- 57 credits or Associate's Degree
- Cohorted program. Courses are reserved and CRNs to register are provided to all admitted students each semester.
